Grow a Mitzvah!
Temple Emanu-El has transformed our courtyard into a Mitzvah Garden! The Torah teaches: “When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap all the way to the edges of the field, or gather the gleanings of your harvest… you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger.” (Leviticus 19:9)
We are growing vegetables in our
Mitzvah Garden and donating them to the Westfield Food Pantry so that we can engage in this important mitzvah of
Pe’ah – leaving the corners of our fields for the poor. The whole congregation is getting involved, from our Early Childhood Education classes to adult Temple members committed to social justice.
Check out the photos below to see our progress. Please contact
Rabbi Glazer to find out how you can help grow a mitzvah!
