We are very excited to introduce Temple Emanu-El’s Blog!
What’s a blog? Very simply put, it is a place on our website where we can write openly to express our feelings, thoughts, experiences as well as share information with our entire congregation. But why did we decide to start a blog?
Why did we decide to start a blog?
We’re a large congregation, in fact we are one of the largest reform congregations in all of New Jersey. For that reason, we understand that not all of our members know all of our staff, clergy, or other members on a deeper level. In addition, because of our size, it’s very possible you might not know about all of the amazing things that are happening in our Temple community from our unique worship services, early childhood and youth learning and engagement activities, congregational learning, and more. (If you haven’t already, you can always check out all of Temple Emanu-El’s events here.) That’s why we came together as a collective group and decided that we needed some kind of open place for us to communicate to the community at large – a blog. We will be using our blog to share some of these meaningful experiences with you.
For those that do not know, we recently updated our website. Our old website was out-of-date, wasn’t user friendly, and didn’t convey the feeling we wanted our community to have when they first looked at the site. Since then, we’ve completely overhauled our website to make it more modern and user-friendly. However, even with all of these changes, we could still sense that there was still something missing – our own personalities! Now that we have a new look and feel to our website, it just seemed like the perfect time to introduce a new concept of a blog.
What’s our goal?
The goal of this blog is to make connections – connections to people, worship services, places, holidays, community, and events. At least twice a month, we hope to share something personal with you, whether it be an achievement that we want to share, an experience we recently had, a d’var, an upcoming event…. the possibilities are endless! We are looking forward to bringing you some great content and conversation!
To quote Marie Kondo, we want our blog to be something that “sparks joy” for you.
