World Zionist Congress 2025
As we welcome this new year, our congregation’s World Zionist Congress campaign team is putting our energy into action and working for a safe, secure, and democratic future for Israel in 2025.
The World Zionist Congress is the democratically elected international body that convenes every five years and is a way for Diaspora Jews like you to have a voice in Israel and stand up for pluralism, equality, security, and a path to peace. The 2025 WZC elections will take place March 10 – May 4. Our congregation has started to build our team and we need your help!
Our success in this campaign depends on building a team in our congregation to spread the word and get our members to vote. We would love you to join us! For more information, or to volunteer, you can fill out this form or contact Rabbi Appell at vappell@tewnj.org or Evan Landa at evan.landa@gmail.com. Our campaign will help ensure that Israel reflects our Reform Jewish values and is a place where our children and grandchildren will always be safe and welcome. The Reform Jewish representatives in the WZC help promote our values on issues that affect all of us.
WHAT’S AT STAKE?
Our opponents in the WZC campaign are highly motivated religious fundamentalists whose vision for the future of Israel is diametrically opposed to ours. They are organizing to destroy what we value, including:
Chipping away at Israel’s democracy
Rolling back gains for gender equity, LGBTQ+ rights, and religious pluralism
Stripping our Israeli Reform clergy – especially our women rabbis – and our Reform communities of their
rights, funding, and infrastructure
Making sure that our converts and children are not welcome in the Jewish state
Expanding settlements and blocking any hope of Palestinian self-determination and safety
Their vision writes Reform Jews out of the next chapter of Jewish history and will make
Jews in Israel and around the world less safe.
